I hope the year so far has been going well for you all. Here’s another update of what I’ve been up to with Unplayed Art.
This has ended up being monthly updates, and I am figuring out the position of these updates when compared to other communication channels.
Please do reach out and let me know what you think of these updates. Your feedback is really helpful in making them useful.
Social media
Most of my work so far has been on social media. I’ve been sharing regular updates (every 2 or 3 days) on Facebook and Instagram, and have been promoting:
- The Heart builds.
- The new clothing I’ve been working on, that I’ll talk about in the next section.
I’ve also been a little active on X (formerly Twitter) and WeAre8.
The next few posts there are showcasing my Rainbow Heart builds – I was embarrassed that I missed out having these in the store earlier, but I have them now. Better late than never, as people might say!
Clothing
With zero reviews, I realize it is going to take time for potential customers to trust me and my store. I have been looking at alternative products to help bring in some income and also start building trust. I have added a few clothing designs that align with my vision of bringing childhood and adulthood closer.
The first of the clothing is a few designs in the Play-Role Clothing. This allows us to show off the play-roles we take on for our hobbies and interests.
My hope is that this clothing will help us increase identity with our inner child, and realigns the impact that a strong work identity can have on our self.
Price points
With art, it’s really nice to be able to see and appreciate the product before you buy. Obviously this experience is trickier when selling online. I have been looking into physical locations where I could showcase and sell my work, and what’s involved for me to get involved.
I’ve received a little feedback on needing products that cater for various different price points, so I’ve been looking into how I can achieve this.
The obvious small items I can offer are keyrings, pins/badges, and fridge magnets. My research found that there is good competition already on Etsy here, so any online offerings of mine will need to differentiate.
I’m also looking at bringing in different variants of the existing art that will come in at a different price point, whilst remaining true to the design.
That’s all I have for now! Do reach out and say hello, and tell me what you think of the work I’ve been doing. I’m excited to hear from you all.
